Foam sclerotherapy is a new form of delivering sclerosing agent that allows us to treat larger varicose veins that would otherwise fail with traditional sclerotherapy. The foamed solution has a ‘shaving cream’ consistency that enhances the treatment in two different ways.

The foam displaces blood within the vessel, allowing the full strength of the sclerosing agent to be in direct contact with the vessel wall for an extended period of time without any dilution effect.

Foam is visible through ultrasound imaging and can be easily tracked and directed to the source of the venous problem. For large veins, ultrasound guided foam treatment is applied.
